Das vorliegende Buch enthält sowohl Erfahrungsberichte bei der zielge- richteten und tool-gestützten Anwendung von Softwaremetriken als auch weiterführende theoretische Untersuchungen auf dem Gebiet der Metriken für die objektorientierte Softwareentwicklung und Metriken-Validation. Es ist eine Zusammenfassung der auf einem Workshop der GI-Arbeitsgruppe Softwaremetriken am 26. und 27. September 1994 an der Universität Mag- deburg gehaltenen Vorträge. In der praktischen Anwendung steht dabei vor allem die effektive Nutzung von Me tools für einen me baren Fortschritt in der Produktivität und Qualität der Softwareentwicklung und -produkte im Vordergrund. Darüberhinaus werden weitere Metriken für moderne Entwicklungspara- digmen und globalere Qualitätsanforderungen vorgestellt. Die theore- tischen Arbeiten befassen sich vor allem mit der Validationsproblematik bei einer I 'richtigen" (im Sinne der verwendeten statistischen Auswer- tungsmethoden) Anwendung von Softwaremetriken bei der empirischen Bewertung. Das Buch ist vier Kapitel unterteilt. Das erste Kapitel ist mit " Pro- duktivität und Effektivität" überschrieben und beinhaltet Beiträge, die sich dieser Problematik unter Anwendung von Softwaremetriken stellen. Baisch und Ebert berichten über die Bewertung der Produktivität auf der Grundlage einer Auswahl von Metriken, der Me wertbestimmung und der kennzahlenbasierten Bewertung. Dabei wird der Schwerpunkt der Analyse auf die Herleitung möglichst allgemeingültiger Produktivitätsmetriken gelegt. Der Beitrag von Gro johann berichtet über die bereits jahrelange Anwendung des Function-Point-Verfahrens für die Anfwandschätzung unter der besonderen Beachtung der gegenwärtigen zum Teil extremen wirtschaftlichen Randbedingungen. Rudolph beschreibt wesentliche Grund- prinzipien für die effektive Anwendung von Softwaremetriken unter dem Hintergrund eigener reichhaltiger Erfahrungen bei der Konzeption und VI Anwendung umfangreicher " Metrikenprogramme" für verschiedene Fir- men.
