Friendship is at the heart of every joy. Isla, Priya, and Emma have been best friends since high school. As they grow older, their different paths begin to strain that bond. Isla is fresh off a major heartbreak and stuck in a frustrating job. Priya has crushed every goal she has ever set and believes her final years of med school will be no different. Emma's life has worked out exactly how she imagined: she and her loving husband have just moved into their dream home, with their first child on the way. What could go wrong?

Will Isla settle down and figure out what she wants out of life? Will Priya allow her heart to be open to new paths and new ideas? Will Emma's perfect life be all she imagined? Through all the ups and downs, as months pass, and the seasons change...will their friendship survive?

There Are Thirty Ways to Make a Scene grabs readers and drags them into a vibrant, delightful world where they can feel welcome. As these friends navigate opportunity, and adventure, readers see how difficult, absurd, frustrating, and beautiful it is to be in relationships with those around us.

Joelle, Lisa: - Lisa Joelle grew up in the city and moved to the country when she married a tall farmer from southwest Manitoba. They live on a grain farm in Treaty 2 territory, with three boys who are about to eat them out of house and home. After a few years of trying to be a perfect farm wife, it turned out her skills lay elsewhere. She has spent nearly a decade working as a painter and mixed media artist, as well as reviving and working with a non-profit arts organization in her town. There, she also teaches extra-curricular art classes.

Lisa loves to grow flowers, cross-country ski, and hike. She cooks for friends and family, and-if necessary-she can even drive a tractor. Lisa has written all her life in the form of journaling, and later for a short stint as a blogger. This is her first novel.
