Von einem Formelverzeichnis wurde abgesehen, weil in jedem numerierten Abschnitt (Kapitel) die Bedeutung der Symbole neu erkliirt wird, so daB - hin- sichtlich der Formelzeichen - jeder Abschnitt fiir sich verstiindlich ist. Damit entfiillt beim Studium einzelner Abschnitte das liistige Zuriickbliittcrn. Herrn Dr. K. -H. Ducker danke ich fur die kritische Durchsicht des Tcxtes und fiir die Anfcrtigung der Abbildungen. Ka- pitels in die Abschnitte Sa bis Sf), der Behandlung zusiitzlicher Begriffe (z.B. Iscntropc, Schallgcschwindigkcit, Fugazitiit, Zusatzfunktioncn usw.) sowic der Einfiigung zweier neuer Kapitel (38. und 40. Kapitel) und eines Anhanges. Selbstverstiindlich wurde auch sonst der Text auf den neuesten Stand gebracht, insbesondere hinsichtlich der Literaturzitate. Die Abbildungen und Tabellen wurden unveriindert aus der ersten Auflage iibernommen. Den Herren Dr. K. -H. Ducker t, Dr. K. Har!! und Dr. H. -1.
