Questa piccola presentazione di Lawrence d'Arabia è il frutto di un percorso di lavoro e di studio più complesso di quanto possa sembrare. L'intenzione di scrivere un lavoro su una figura della storia così complessa, considerata da molti una leggenda, trova le sue radici nella magia e nel romanticismo dietro una figura a cui ero affezionato fin da quando ero giovane: Thomas Edward Lawrence. Una persona che per certi aspetti ho potuto sentire vicina per lo stesso modo di vivere, lo stesso atteggiamento verso le sfide e gli ostacoli. Incrociando nella lettura delle fonti, a volte le avventure raccontate assumevano concretezza nella realtà. Un personaggio della storia, che cento anni fa descriveva quasi meglio di altri il popolo arabo, ritrovando quelle caratteristiche che oggi sono alla base della frammentazione e della crisi del panorama internazionale. Aveva talento: era bravo con i numeri e con le persone, e questo talento, unito a un pizzico di fortuna, portò T. E. Lawrence a essere una leggenda, un re del deserto. Un deserto, che aiuta gli uomini a scoprire i propri limiti. Un luogo, dove molto sangue fu versato in passato e ancora oggi. Tuttavia, l'interesse culturale e storico per questa figura, avvolta in una nebbia di mistero, non è stato l'unico motivo per cui si è scelto questo argomento, ma il desiderio era quello di raggiungere la possibilità di scrivere qualcosa di unico sul re del deserto. This little presentation of Lawrence of Arabia is the fruit both of a work and study path more complex than which could seem. The intention to write a dissertation on such a complex figure of history, considered as a legend by many people, finds his roots on the magic and the romance behind a figure I was fond of since I was young: Thomas Edward Lawrence. A person, which for some aspects, I could feel close for the same way of living, the same attitude towards the challenges and obstacles. Crossing across the reading of the sources, sometimes I was matching myself in the adventures told. A character of the history, which one hundred years ago almost described the Arab population better than others, finding the features that nowadays are the bases of the fragmentation and crisis in the international landscape. He was talented: he was good at numbers and at people, and this talent, merged with a spark of luck, led T. E. Lawrence to be a legend, a king of the desert. A desert, which helps men discover their own limits. It comes to a desert, where a lot of blood was shred in the past and still today.
However, the cultural and historical interest in this figure, wrapped in a blurred mist of mystery, was not the only reason for choosing this topic, but the desire was to reach the possibility to write something unique about the king of the desert. Concluding the preface, the dissertation on T. E.
