A social-political discourse, for leaders and peoples of developing countries, about pressing issues they should concern themselves about, in order to be taken seriously, in the scheme of things, on the world stage. Particular emphasis is laid on the need, to start being producers, rather than just consumers of manufactured goods, letting go, of the dependence culture and aid from developed countries, putting their countries in order in the area of judicial use of their resources, ending corruption in governance and encouraging research and new thinking and creativity. The book is written in 9 chapters, each dealing with one specific area of human interaction, the current challenges faced and proposals for overcoming such obstacles, either individually by each country, or on a collective basis by groups of countries, in Southeast Asia, Africa, Middle East and South/Central America. A number of photographs, newspaper articles and statistics are utilized to buttress the arguments in the book and to highlight the need for more creative endeavours to be institutionalized. The book ends with a clarion call for both the leaders and people to wake up from their slumber and start contributing to human development.

Ben Igiebor comes from a shipping/maritime background, having trained in shipping management at East Asiatic Company Ltd, Copenhagen, Denmark and Escombe Mcgrath, UK, then worked as a Container Operations Manager at Apapa/Tincan ports in Lagos before going on to the University of Wales, Cardiff for an MSc course in Maritime Studies, after which he taught shipping at London Guildhall University [now part of London Metropolitan University] 1990-94. With this background in maritime and international trade, he has developed great interest in the commerce and economies of developing nations and wants to see progress and development in the countries. He is a British citizen, of Nigerian parentage, is keenly interested in current affairs and the dynamics of culture, politics and development, and has published a pictorial poetry book, African Plants and Trees in Poetry. He also writes on topical and political issues and is a keen reader of articles and reports in the Daily Mail and Telegraph, both UK daily newspapers.
