My son Douglas came to me and said he wanted to put a book together with all the stories I have written over the years. Well I was not prepared for what was to come. I could not believe how many I have done. After going back and reading them I think the one that was most memorable was the one called "TRADITIONS". This book is those kinds of stories, as well as "How to Gardening Tips," and the many thing that happened right outside my sliding glass door, The same thing may also happen outside your door. I hope you enjoy reading this book and remember to always... Garden with good Thoughts.... As you begin to read the book think of this phrase as a way to lead you to the end of the book Quote: "At any point in time we are the sum total of all the people we meet in our lives and what we have learned along the way." Jean Macdonald

I was born in Warren Ohio; Warren was the capital of the Western Reserve, long before statehood. I made a trip back there in 1989 and located all the places of my childhood. While there, I found where the farms of my grandparents were located. The government took over the land for the Revana Arsenal during the war. My grandparents are buried in Millersburg Ohio, an Amish community. However, that is another story... So I came to California for reasons of my father's health. "I had wanted to be a Chemical Engineer, I always took math and science classes through school but when I went to college, I was told the math, and science classes were for the male students." Therefore, I took two years of commercial art upon the advice of my father; he said I liked to draw. Some other students and I went to Yosemite to work the fall through winter season. While there, I met a man named Robert who later became my husband. I have 7 grown children, all went to school in Campbell. When my youngest son started attending school, I went to work in the electronic industry. Wanted more information about electronics - so I went back to school. Attended West Valley College and took classes for two years to become an Electronic Technician. I worked 17 plus years at Fairchild. I ended up operating the prototype of the Electron Beam Exposure System. It was my 'baby outside of the womb'. It is now in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. So I retired in 1984 from the "Electronics field" and found Master Gardeners, a different kind of" field. "I am currently a "Lifetime Master Gardener '. I was at the post office one day when I meet Sally Howe, she said she was the editor of a newspaper and I said "Would you like me to write a garden column." She said, "I'll take it. I hope you enjoy my "musings" and remember to "Garden with good thoughts" Jean Macdonald
