Paul Tillich setzt sich von 1909-1912 intensiv mit der Philosophie Friedrich Schellings auseinander. Dieser Prozess mündet in die beiden akademischen Qualifikationsschriften Tillichs. Im Zuge seiner Beschäftigung mit diesem Typus idealistischer Philosophie kristallisieren sich die Grundzüge seiner frühen Christologie heraus, zu deren Explikation sich Tillich derjenigen Kategorien bedient, die auch schon im Zentrum der Christologie Schellings gestanden haben - Offenbarung und Geschichte. Es ist die Aufgabe dieser Studie, die Herausbildung der frühen Christologie Tillichs vor dem Hintergrund von Schellings christologischem Ansatz historisch-genetisch zu interpretieren, zu welchem Zweck bisher unveröffentlichtes Quellenmaterial hinzugezogen wird, das im Anhang publiziert ist. Ausgehend von der kategorialen Durchdringung des frühen christologischen Programms Tillichs gilt es, dessen systematische Reichweite bis in das Spätwerk hinein auszuloten. Auf diesem Wege wird ein Terrain erschlossen, von dem aus das intellektuelle Profil dieses gro en Au enseiters der Theologiegeschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts bewertet wird.
