Reinhold Urmetzer wurde 1950 in Saarbru cken geboren. Nach einer Ausbildung als Berufsmusiker studierte er Philosophie bei Karl Otto Apel, Literaturwissenschaft bei Fritz Martini und Komposition bei Erhard Karkoschka in Saarbru cken, Stuttgart und Tu bingen. Er arbeitete fu r Fachzeitschriften, Tageszeitungen und Rund- funkanstalten und vero ffentlichte zahlreiche Interviews, u.a. mit Franc ois Lyotard, Niklas Luhmann, Olivier Messiaen und Wolfgang Rihm. Wichtige Erfahrungen hat er in der Auseinandersetzung mit dem franzo sischen Denken und der franzo sischen Literatur gemacht. 1997 ist ihm ein Cicero-Rednerpreis in Bonn verliehen worden."
