Having been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, God promised Kate that she 'will not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord.' She survived against all the odds, and dedicates her life to his mission. You can read more about her first journey in her first memoir Sea Changed.

But seven years later, the cancer returned with a vengeance. Desperately ill, Kate sank beneath the waves of consciousness to the ocean floor where she experienced a mystical encounter with God that transcended imagination or words.

Despite being grateful to be alive, Kate found that she missed that profound connection with God. She sought to understand and recapture that experience, and in doing so discovered a contemplative practice that offered her a deeper way into the presence of God.
