Frank Baumann, Kölner Privatdetektiv mit Hang zu harter Rockmusik und italienischen Autos, ist eigentlich ganz zufrieden mit sich und der Welt. Zwar läuft sein Laden nicht ganz rund, andererseits funktioniert der CD-Player in seinem feuerroten Alfa einwandfrei. Was will man also mehr? Aber Baumann ist wohl der Typ, der Ärger magisch anzieht. Bei einer nächtlichen Routineermittlung beobachtet er, wie ein bekannter Lokalpolitiker mit voller Absicht überfahren wird. Nachdem die Polizei seiner Mordtheorie nur wenig Begeisterung entgegenbringt, beschlie t Baumann auf eigene Faust zu ermitteln. In der Folge entwickelt sich der Fall zu einer brandgefährlichen Mordermittlung. Nach und nach sterben weitere Kölner Honoratioren, jede Menge finstere Gestalten tauchen in Baumanns Kielwasser auf und er gerät immer tiefer in ein Dickicht aus kommunalpolitischen Mauscheleien, Wirtschaftskriminalität und Prostitution. Als auf ihn ein Überfall verübt wird, bei dem Charlie, sein bester Freund, schwer verletzt wird, hat Baumann die Schnauze voll. Wird Zeit, ein paar Leuten klarzumachen, dass man Frank Baumann besser nicht ans Bein pinkelt.

Udo Ulsperger wurde 1959 in Köln geboren und lebt heute in einer ruhigen Kleinstadt zwischen Köln und Bonn. Er ist verheiratet und hat eine erwachsene Tochter. Der Autor war mehrere Jahre Soldat bei der Bundeswehr, hat sich dann als freiberuflicher Versicherungsvermittler durchgeschlagen und ist heute Leitender Angestellter bei einer großen Versicherung. Udo Ulsperger liest selbst seit Jahrzehnten Kriminalromane und liebt hierbei ganz besonders Autoren wie Jörg Juretzka, die in ihren Romanen handfeste Handlung mit kantigen, eigenwilligen Figuren verbinden. Die Begeisterung für derartige Krimis hat letztlich zu seinem Entschluss geführt, sich selbst einmal in diesem Genre zu versuchen. Und natürlich teilen seine wichtigsten Protagonisten - Frank Baumann und Charlie - seine eigene Vorliebe für harte Rockmusik, schnelle Autos und lockere Sprüche. Aber sie verkörpern auch Werte wie Freundschaft, Hilfsbereitschaft und Loyalität und hegen wie der Autor eine heftige Abneigung gegen Ungerechtigkeit, Korruption und ungehemmte Profitgier. Insofern war schnell klar, dass die Profiteure in "Tödliche Konsequenzen" eines grausamen Todes sterben würden. Das haben sie jetzt davon. "Tödliche Konsequenzen" ist der erste veröffentlichte Kriminalroman des Autors. Ein Nachfolger ist aber schon in Planung.
