His private business activities include founding Design Assurance Sciences in 1990 and MudTurtle Industries, LLC, in 2016. Additionally, he is currently the Dean of Engineering & Industry at the Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Degrees include: Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern University; M.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign; and B.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign. He has taught industrial engineering courses for the University of Illinois and Northwestern University, and is currently a Senior Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering for the Illinois Institute of Technology.
