Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Kunst - Fotografie und Film, Note: 1,0, Universität Duisburg-Essen (Kunst und Kunstwissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der von Nino Frank 1946 geprägte Begriff "Film Noir" bezeichnet eine Reihe von Filmen, die in den USA zwischen 1941 und 1958 entstanden. Diese "schwarzen" Filme werden durch die Einflussnahme europäischer Exilanten und der Stilmittel des Deutschen Expressionismus gekennzeichnet, aber auch durch ihre Figuren: "Schwarz dominierte nicht nur auf der Leinwand, düster waren auch die Charaktere dieser Filme, dubios ihre Motive und Handlungen, und zweifelhaft war ihre moralische Integrität." Es fand eine Fokusverschiebung statt: "Die wesentliche Frage besteht nicht mehr darin aufzudecken, wer das Verbrechen begangen hat, sondern darin, zu sehen, wie sich der Protagonist verhalten wird." Demnach löste die schwarze Serie den klassischen "Whodunit"-Plot ab, indem die Aufklärung des Verbrechens in den Hintergrund und die Psychologie der Figuren in den Vordergrund rückte. Vorlagen für die Films Noirs fanden die Regisseure bei den "hard-boiled writers" der US-amerikanischen Kriminalliteratur. Diese Autoren schufen den amerikanischen Privatdetektiv, der in selbst gewählter Einsamkeit lebt und nur seinem eigenen Moralkodex verpflichtet ist; Frauenfiguren, die sich von der männlichen Dominanz emanzipieren und ihre eigenen Ziele verfolgen, sowie viele dubiose Nebencharaktere, die sich in einem Geflecht von Kriminalität und Korruption selbst zum Verhängnis werden. Der Film Noir adaptierte diese Figuren und entwickelte sie weiter, doch die archetypischen Charaktere, die im Verlauf der Entwicklung auftauchen, sind einer ständigen Reflexion durch gesellschaftliche Verhältnisse unterworfen und verändern sich dementsprechend fortlaufend.
