Dies bleibt nicht ohne Folgen - auch nicht für den Bausektor, der mit einem Bauvolumen im Jahr 1999 von mehr als 520 Milliarden DM in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zu den bedeutendsten Wirtschaftszweigen unserer Gesellschaft gehört. Der Funktions- und Leistungsbereich rund um den Lebenszyklus von Bauwerken zählt jedoch auch zu den Wirtschaftssektoren mit den grö ten Effizienzpotenzialen. Digitale Technologien sind daher als Chance zu sehen, die Baubranche nach dem Motto „make the elephant dance" in einen effizienten Wirtschaftsbereich zu transferieren. Verstärkte Nutzung der Internettechnologie und das Aufkommen innovativer Prozessmodelle verändern bereits heute das Umfeld der Beteiligten und unterstreichen die Aktualität und Notwendigkeit, dieses Themengebiet ganzheitlich zu erforschen. Problemstellung: Die Arbeit adressiert diese Herausforderungen mit Hilfe der Einteilung des Lebenszyklus von Bauwerken in vier Phasen. Zusammen mit einer fundierten Beschreibung der beteiligten Funktions- und Leistungsträger sowie der Zusammenstellung eines Portfolios digitaler Technologien bildet das Lebenszykluskonzept die Basis für die sich anschlie ende Untersuchung der Einflüsse dieser Technologien auf Prozesse der Bauherrn, Ingenieurdienstleister, Projektsteuerer, Aufsichtsbehörden und andere Beteiligte am Lebenszyklus von Bauwerken. Die gewonnenen Ergebnisse wurden als Prüfbasis für die Durchführung einer Unternehmensstudie mit einem Ingenieurdienstleister, einem Logistikunternehmen sowie einem Technologieunternehmen verwendet.
