Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Hispanistik, Note: 1,0, Friedrich-Schiller-Universit�t Jena (Institut f�r romanische Literaturwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Seminar "Avantgardbewegungen in Spanien und Portugal", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Theater ist Poesie, die aus B�chern steigt und menschlich wird, die spricht und schreit, weint und verzweifelt. Diese gewagte These formulierte der Avantgardist Frederico Garc�a Lorca in dem Jahr seines Todes 1936. Der 1898 in Fuente Vaqueros in der Provinz Granada geborene Schriftsteller und Lyriker z�hlt heute mit zu den wichtigsten spanischen Autoren des 20. Jahrhunderts und wurde nach seinem Tod besonders durch seine Werke f�r das Theater bekannt. 1930 reiste er nach einem einj�hrigen Aufenthalt in New York nach Kuba, sp�ter nach Argentinien, wo er in den Jahren 1933/34 seine bekanntesten Werke "Bodas de Sangre", "Yerma" und "La Casa de Bernarda Alba" schrieb. Eines der auf Kuba entstandenen beziehungsweise fertig geschriebenen St�cke - "El P�blico" - wurde in vorliegender Arbeit n�her untersucht. In Bezug auf die Relevanz von "El P�blico" im Gesamtwerk Lorcas und der Literatur der Avantgarden wurde gefragt, wie Lorcas es schafft, gegen die Konventionen des klassischen Dramas zu protestieren. Auf welche Weise agieren in diesem St�ck Traumelemente und intertextuelle Aspekte? Hat Lorca ein surrealistisches Werk geschaffen? Welche Bedeutung hat "Das Publikum" f�r das moderne Theater? Nach einer kurzen Inhaltszusammenfassung wurde das Werk zun�chst auf phantastische Elemente, polyphone Charaktere und schlie lich das Thema der "Krise" im Theater untersucht. Im folgenden Unterkapitel wurde auf die im St�ck vorhandene Intertextualit�t eingegangen. Nach der Interpretation, ob es sich um ein surrealistisches Theaterst�ck handelt, wurde letztlich die Rolle Lorcas bez�glich des Theaters der Moderne gekl�rt und die Einzigartigkeit und vision�re, pathetische aber auch teils obsz�ne Thematik von Lorcas Theater he
