About The Book

Set in the not-too-distant future a 15-year-old boy named Jonathan Edwards and his dad Mike, a scientist with archeological interest, embarks on a routine flight over Africa. Through bizarre circumstances, Jon and his dad get separated in the treacherous uninhabitable jungle in the northern parts of the Congo when their plane goes down. Together with a handful of survivors they end up in a small ancient tribal village, where the people believe that a series of unusual and unexpected killings by jungle animals are directly related to the presence of the intruders and their only solution for a cure thereof lies in the demise of the strangers. Jon, his dad, and the other survivors are subjected to life-threatening dangers, the least of which is the unexpected appearance of what was believed to be an extinct species related to the dinosaur era. The local tribe does not provide any support or solution to our friend's misfortune, on the contrary... Now, it's all up to the Edwards boys to craft an escape from what seems to be a sure death of the ill-fated party.

About The Author

About the authors Wian and his dad, Peter, were born in South Africa and spent much time in the nature-rich Bushveld of the African planes ... Wian is a grade 6 student and his dad, an engineer by trade, is a full-time businessman. Wian and his family relocated to the USA in 2009. Today they are dual citizens of the USA and South Africa. Storytelling was always a fun pastime habit in the family and while mom Magdalena Liesl (Leesee to her friends) embarked on her career as author, Wian inspired his dad to assist him in writing his first novel, Trials in the Jungle. Mom also contributed in the writing of Trials of the Jungle, when she was not too busy with her own writing project or to support the authors with motivation, coffee, and love. Wian is an avid sports fan, snowboarder and outdoorsman, keeping active in team sports, involved in both Rugby as well as American Football programs. Together with his older siblings they make an annual effort to spend time in nature and on the ski slopes. Wian and his mom and dad live in Charlotte, North Carolina.
