Das Vorwort zu diesem Jahrbuch sollte noch aus der Feder von Herrn Prof. Dr. SCHRODER stammen, da die Periode, tiber die das Jahrbuch vorwiegend berichtet, noch in die Zeit seiner Prasidentschaft fiel. Ein Unfall bedingte Hingere Krankheit und nach anschlieBender, scheinbarer Wiedergenesung verstarb Herr Prof. SCHRO- DER plotzlich am 13.11.1968, nachdem ihm in einer Feierstunde an seinem 75. Ge- burtstag am 2.5.1968 die Urkunde tiber seine Ernennung zum Ehrenprasidenten tiberreicht werden konnte. Das Deutsche Zentralkomitee zur Bekiimpfung der Tuberkulose trauert urn seinen Ehrenprasidenten, die IUAT urn ihr Ehrenmitglied. Die zahlreichen Beileidsbezeugungen aus aller Welt zeigten, welches Ansehen der Verstorbene in der Welt genoB, lieBen die herzlichen und freundschaftlichen Ge- fUhle fUr ihn erkennen, aber auch, wie der anerkannte Sozialhygieniker weltweite Faden wieder hatte kntipfen konnen. Zahlreiche Nachrufe wtirdigten sein Wirken auf den verschiedensten Wissensgebieten, ebenso wie seine Personlichkeit. Das Deutsche Zentralkomitee gedachte seiner in einem Nachruf, der nachstehend abgedruckt ist. Die Vorbereitung des Jahrbuches lag wieder in den bewahrten Handen des lang- jahrigen Generalsekretars, Herrn Prof. Dr. KREUSER, dem das DZK aufgrund einstimmigen Beschlusses der Mitgliederversammlung wegen seiner Verdienste als Sozialhygieniker auf allen Gebieten der Tuberkulosebekampfung die Ehrenmitglied- schaft anliiBlich seines 80. Geburtstages verlieh, nachdem er am 30.9.1968 aus dem Dienste des Deutschen Zentralkomitees geschieden war.
