Christoph Gerhard ist Professor für Physik und Instrumentelle Analytik an der Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaft und Kunst in Göttingen. Er studierte nach seiner Ausbildung zum Feinoptiker und anschließender Berufstätigkeit Präzisionsfertigungstechnik sowie Optical Engineering/Photonics. 2014 promovierte er an der Technischen Universität Clausthal und war ab 2016/17 als Professor für Laser- und Plasmatechnik an der Technischen Hochschule Wildau sowie als Gastprofessor für Optikdesign am Politecnico di Milano tätig.
