Das vorliegende Tutorium richtet sich an alle, die endlich einmal von der Pike auf die Physik und Mathematik der Quantenmechanik verstehen wollen: Was genau ist eigentlich ein Hilbert-Raum? Was ist ein hermitescher Operator? Ein Tensorprodukt? Ein verschr�nkter Zustand? Inwiefern sind Wellenfunktionen Vektoren?

Das Buch behandelt den Stoff der entsprechenden Kursvorlesung im Rahmen der theoretischen Physik einpr�gsam und auf eine gut verst�ndliche Weise. Es konzentriert sich dabei auf die allgemeinen Postulate der Quantenmechanik und geht auch auf die Fragestellung hinsichtlich der Interpretation der Quantenmechanik ein.

Jeder Schritt und jeder neue Begriff wird anhand von einfachen Beispielen erl�utert. Der Autor legt dabei gro en Wert auf die Klarheit der verwendeten Mathematik - etwas, das er und viele Studenten in anderen Lehrb�chern bislang oft vermissen mussten. Durch diesen Schwerpunkt ist das Buch auch sehr gut f�r Mathematiker geeignet, die sich mit demThema auseinandersetzen wollen.

In der Pr�fungsvorbereitung eignet sich das Buch besonders gut zur Kl�rung von Begriffen und Verst�ndnisfragen. Die im Text eingestreuten "Fragen zum Selbstcheck" und �bungsaufgaben mit L�sungen unterst�tzen das Lernen zus�tzlich.

In der zweiten, �berarbeiteten Auflage wurde u.a. das Kapitel "Quantenpand�monium" erg�nzt. Hier werden verschiedene erstaunliche Quantenph�nomene (beispielsweise Delayed-Choice Experiment, Wechselwirkungsfreie Messung, Quantenradierer) und das Kochen-Specker Theorem diskutiert.

Jan-Markus Schwindt hat in Heidelberg und Cambridge Physik und Mathematik studiert und 2004 in Theoretischer Physik in Heidelberg promoviert.
Im Anschluss war er vier Jahre in Forschung und Lehre als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an den Unis Mainz und Heidelberg tätig mit Forschungsschwerpunkten in Kosmologie und Quantengravitation. Während dieser Zeit war er oft als Tutor tätig und bei Studenten stets sehr beliebt - seine Erfahrung hat er in dieses Buch eingebracht.
