Twelfth Night, or What You Will is a play written by William Shakespeare in the early 1600s. The story is set in the fictional kingdom of Illyria, where a young woman named Viola is shipwrecked and separated from her twin brother, Sebastian. To protect herself, Viola disguises herself as a man named Cesario and enters the service of Duke Orsino, who is in love with the Countess Olivia. As Cesario, Viola falls in love with the Duke, but finds herself caught in a love triangle when Olivia falls for her male alter ego.Meanwhile, a group of Olivia's drunken relatives and servants, including the clownish Sir Toby Belch and the foolish Sir Andrew Aguecheek, plot to humiliate Olivia's strict steward, Malvolio. The play culminates in a series of mistaken identities, comic misunderstandings, and romantic revelations, as Viola's true identity is revealed and the various love interests are resolved.Twelfth Night is considered one of Shakespeare's most popular and enduring comedies, known for its witty wordplay, complex characters, and themes of love, gender, and identity.
