John Cameron Lowrie (1808–1900) was a Scottish-American Presbyterian missionary who spent 43 years in India. After immigrating to the U.S. and studying at the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton Theological Seminary, he was ordained in 1834. Lowrie arrived in India in 1835, where he founded mission stations, schools, and hospitals, notably the Allahabad Mission Station and a Girls' School. In 1846, he played a key role in converting Punjab’s first Muslim, Shaikh Ibrahim, and established the Lahore Mission. Lowrie retired in 1877, returning to Philadelphia, where he died in 1900.
