Sie ist seit den Anfängen der islamischen Religion im 7. Jahrhundert ein Teil der muslimischen Glaubenspraxis, die in allen fünf islamischen Rechtsschulen eine bedeutende Stellung genie t. Sie ist das zentrale Thema. Die vorliegende Arbeit ist somit ein Versuch, dem Verständnis von der korrekten Nachahmung im schiitischen Islam näherzukommen. Au erhalb des islamischen Rechts hat die Nachahmung auch im ethisch-spirituellen Bereich einen au erordentlichen Stellenwert. Die Nachahmung von Verhaltensweisen und Handlungen gro er islamischer Persönlichkeiten - allen voran des Propheten Muhammad soll den Menschen die höchsten Stufen der menschlichen Vervollkommnung erklimmen lassen. Teilweise geht die Nachahmung so penibel, dass sie selbst die kleinsten und banalsten Details mit einschlie t. So treffen wir heute auf Muslime, die bemüht sind, ihre gesamte Lebensweise an der Lebensweise des Propheten Muhammad(oder anderer heiliger islamischer Persönlichkeiten) auszurichten. Das geht von der Art und Weise der Speiseaufnahme über der Bartlänge bis zum Kleidungsstil. Diese Form der grenzenlosen Nachahmung wird von denselben Menschen als notwendig und verpflichtend erachtet. Dabei lautet das dahinterstehende Argument wie folgt: Da es sich beim Propheten Muhammad um ein absolutes Vorbild handelt, sollte er auch in absoluter Hinsicht imitiert werden. Für andere Muslime gründet diese umfassende Form der Nachahmung auf ein falsches Verständnis, da es nicht zwischen dem Wandelbaren und Unwandelbaren unterscheidet.
