Weltkrieg, Note: 1,7, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover (Historisches Seminar), Veranstaltung: Konzentrationslager in Hannover - revisited, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Entscheidung für das Leben und den nächsten Schritt bewältigen, indem die KZ-Häftlinge Techniken entwickelten, um zu überleben, war von grundlegender Bedeutung für ihr weiteres Dasein. Diese Techniken verfolgten drei Ziele. Zunächst war es das Ziel, an Nahrung zu gelangen und damit verbunden den eigenen Körper vor dem Verfall zu schützen. Neben dem Schutz des Körpers steht auch der Schutz der Psyche und der eigenen Identität. Diese Hausarbeit wird sich mit diesen Techniken, die die KZ-Häftlinge zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus anwandten, um das harte KZ-Leben zu überstehen, befassen. Bei den aufgezeigten Überlebensstrategien handelt es sich hauptsächlich um Darstellungen von ehemaligen KZ-Häftlingen aus den Au enlagern des KZ-Systems Neuengamme. Zunächst sollen Methoden und Möglichkeiten aufgezeigt werden, die die Häftlinge gebrauchten, um sich zusätzliche Lebensmittel zu beschaffen. Diese unterteilen sich in innerkonzentrationäre und au erkonzentrationäre Möglichkeiten. Das Erlangen von zusätzlichen Lebensmitteln nimmt die wichtigste Rolle beim Kampf um das Überleben ein und wird hier daher umfassend dargestellt. Im Anschluss daran werden weitere Praktiken, die nicht primär das Erlangen von zusätzlichen Nahrungsmitteln beabsichtigen, herangezogen und erläutert. Hierunter fallen unter anderen Solidaritätsgruppen, Körperhygiene und die psychische Einstellung gegenüber den Lagerbedingungen. Die Besonderheiten weiblicher Überlebensstrategien werden in Kapitel 3 vorgestellt. Lagerfamilien, kulturelle und religiöse Aktivitäten, sozialisationsbedingte Fähigkeiten sowie persönliche Kontakte stehen hier im Mittelpunkt der Überlebenssicherung.
