Die Aufgaben sind nach Themen sortiert, und in den jeweiligen Kapiteln ist die Theorie kurz zusammengefasst, die für das Lösen der Aufgaben nötig ist. Es werden Aufgaben präsentiert, die zur Vertiefung des Stoffs kanonisch sind, aber auch besonders interessante Inhalte hervorgehoben und Verbindungen zwischen verschiedenen Themen aufgezeigt. Mehrere Aufgaben enthalten au erdem Sudoku-artige Fragestellungen verschiedener Komplexität zur Aufstellung von Charaktertafeln endlicher Gruppen.

Nikita Geldhauser ist Universitätsprofessor am Mathematischen Institut der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Er forscht auf dem Gebiet der algebraischen Geometrie und der Theorie der algebraischen Gruppen und hält regelmäßig verschiedene Vorlesungen in Algebra. Die Vorlesung "Darstellungstheorie endlicher Gruppen" gehört zu seinem Standardrepertoire. Nikita Geldhauser erhielt seine Promotion im Fach Mathematik an der Universität München im Jahr 2007 und war als Juniorprofessor an der Universität Mainz tätig, bevor er in 2015 nach München berufen wurde.

Carina Geldhauser ist Senior Lecturer am Department Mathematik der ETH Zürich. Sie erhielt ihre Promotion im Fach Mathematik an der Universität Bonn im Jahr 2016 und war an mehreren Universitäten in Deutschland und dem europäischen Ausland tätig. Carina Geldhauser ist Mitglied der Global Young Academy und engagiert sich seit vielen Jahren in der Mathematikkommunikation, aktuell als Editorin beim Essay-Projekt "Schnappschüsse moderner Mathematik aus Oberwolfach".
