The book is easy to read. In Part 1, the reader is walked through the evolution of gas in the global energy mix. In addition it presents Nigeria's energy transition from when the first coal-fired power plant was built in Marina, Lagos, in 1896 and the energy mix was 100% coal, to the current point where natural gas has become the most dominant fuel in the energy mix for power and coal effectively reduced to zero. It introduces the fundamentals of natural gas in easy to read terms for the reader that is new to natural gas. It describes how gas is formed, uses, key terms and a thorough overview of the gas sector value chain. Many technical concepts in natural gas processing and transportation are presented in easy to understand language for the non-technical reader. It situates the sector in Nigeria, illustrating with in-country examples.

Part 2 of the book discusses the commercial aspect of natural gas. It discusses gas contracts, fiscal terms and investment appraisal methods for gas projects. It presents the evolution of gas fiscal provisions in Nigeria which has culminated in the Petroleum Industry Act fiscal revisions. This Part provides guidance to gas contracting and is a good introduction for the Legal Practitioner who is new to natural gas and gas contracting.

Part 3 discusses the Nigerian gas sector. It presents an overview of the resource base, key gas infrastructure in Nigeria and the overall sector structure. It discusses extensively the evolution of gas policy trends in Nigeria, lessons learnt from past policy development and a look ahead for policy focus. It ends with an overview of the new Petroleum Industry Act. This Part of the book is a must read for Policy makers, students of political economy and investors looking to understand the Nigerian gas sector landscape.
