Erzählt wird von jungen und älteren Männern und Frauen aus ganz verschiedenen Milieus, etwa von dem pensionierten Rechtsmediziner, der sich unsterblich in eine ihm unbekannte Nachbarin verliebt, wie von einer jungen Frau, die an ihrem Geburtstag sehnsüchtig auf ihren Freund wartet. Eine weitere Erzählung kreist um die sadomasochistische Passion zweier Frauen, eine andere um die unglückliche Liebe eines erfolgreichen Bauunternehmers zu einer Prostituierten. Ein besonderes Augenmerk liegt auf der Verschränkung von äu erem Auslöser einerseits und den biographischen Ursprüngen der einzelnen Figuren andererseits, um derartige Handlungen einfühlbar zu machen und traditionellen Klischee- und Mythenbildungen, die sich immer schon um das Thema Suizidalität ranken, entgegenzuwirken.

Benigna Gerisch, Diplom-Psychologin, Systemische Familientherapeutin, Psychologische Psychotherapeutin, Psychoanalytikerin (DPV/IPA) -Studium der Psychologie und Literaturwissenschaft in Hamburg. -Von 1990 - 2010 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Psychotherapeutin im Therapie-Zentrum für Suizidgefährdete am Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf. -Promotion und Habilitation zum Forschungsfeld 'Suizidalität bei Frauen', Auszeichnung 1998 mit dem Nachwuchsförderpreis der Deutschen Psychoanalytischen Vereinigung. -Seit 2009: Professorin für Klinische Psychologie und Psychoanalyse an der International Psychoanalytic University (IPU) in Berlin. Studienschwerpunkte: Interventionen und Psychodynamische Beratung. -Zahlreiche Vorträge, Publikationen und Forschungsprojekte unter anderem zur Suizidalität und Geschlechterdifferenz und psychoanalytischen Körperkonzepten sowie (autodestruktiven) Körperpraktiken. -Literaturwissenschaftlich-psychoanalytische Studien zur Suizidalität im Film, Theater und in der Belletristik, u.a. zu Goethe, Kleist, Dostojewski, Ingeborg Bachmann, Sylvia Plath und Marina Zwetajewa. -2018: Produktion und Entwicklung des Theaterstücks 'Much Love, Assia' - Zur Tragödie suizidaler Doppelgängerinnen: Sylvia Plath, Ted Hughes - Assia Wevill und David Wevill mit Studierenden an der IPU und der Regisseurin Irene Christ. -Wissenschaftliche Beratung von Film- und Theaterproduktionen u.a. zu 'De Living' von Ersan Mondtag.
