Universal Systems Theory is James W.B. Manuel's grand unifying theory of everything psychological. In this book, Dr. Manuel describes his fund of knowledge across the span of human psychological functioning from personality development, through mental illness, and onto intervening to give helpers the best chances to be able to be competent in helping others, organizations, families, and their very own selves to pursue the full unfolding of their ideal selves. James Manuel, smitten with theoretical physicist's language, is attempting to create a scientific Rosetta Stone for us all to communicate better our troubles and our solutions. In Dr. Manuel's mind, all things are entangled, all things connected in the universe. All psychological theories are true and false, and he utilizes his innate ability to integrate each theoretically for the purpose of unification to make psychology have more integrity as a science. He believes that all things are normal when you take a step back and remove your self from the midst of seeming chaos. Dr. Manuel received his Psy.D. from Wright State University's School of Professional Psychology in 2007. He is licensed to practice psychology in Texas (34502), Massachusetts (10934), and Ohio (7170). Dr. Manuel is a generalist trained clinician, but his specialty areas include working with at risk African American males, multiculturalism, and families. His practice history involves the treatment of diverse clients, with a variety of life problems (e.g. depression, anxiety, marital/family problems, occupational/academic concerns, violence/aggression, substance abuse, sexual issues, financial issues, and grief). He also provides testing, professional trainings, supervision, teletherapy, and consultation services.Readers of UST will be able to ask life's most difficult questions, and use the principles herein to make hypotheses worth testing: Why are we here?
