This book seeks to explain the nature of discrimination and exclusion and why these are so prevalent in our societies. With a mix of applied academic theory, practical examples and real-world experiences, the book examines the topic of D&I from four perspectives: (I) Why diversity and inclusion matters. (II) The forces of exclusion and isolation. (III)The imperative conditions of change. (IV)The organisation of the culture transformation process.

In doing so, the book meets the diverse needs of those involved in corporate governance, board members, executives, and even consultants who want to understand the intricacies of cultural diversity and inclusion and why so many programmes fail. For academics in organisational behavior, equity, diversity, and inclusion, trained in the social sciences and anthropology, the book offers a guide to the practical application of theory and the implementation of policies that cannot rely on the assumption of stability and consistency. Anthony Smith-Meyer is a specialist within governance, compliance and topics relating to organisational behavior. Currently he is the Executive Director of the Institute for Financial Integrity and Sustainability (Luxembourg) and is founder of an idea-creation network known as the GovernanceProject.org. Previously he has been a member of the Group Executive Committee of Compliance and Control at BNP Paribas. He holds the UK Institute of Directors Diploma in Corporate Direction, is a certified director of the Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs, and is a university and independent lecturer, trainer, coach and advisor in matters relating to management, corporate governance and compliance. Applying his extensive governance experience to the subject of diversity, inclusion, and race in collaboration with a leading expert in these fields, Dr Doyin Atewologun, Anthony provides a valuable answer to those who seek meaningful and inclusive organisational change.
