Triple-Ultra-Triathlon ist eine zähe Angelegenheit: 11,4km schwimmen, 540 km Rad fahren, 126,6 km laufen am Stück. Solche Rennen werden im Kopf entschieden, nicht in den Beinen.
Aber als Nicht-Profi ist auch die Vorbereitung auf solch eine Tortur eine Herausforderung. Es geht um Motivation und Mindset, Mut zur Lücke und Risikobereitschaft sowie einen geschickten Umgang mit dem "inneren Schweinehund".
Dem Sportler ergeht es hier wie einer Unternehmensgründerin, die ähnlichen Anforderungen gegenüber steht wie beim Unternehmen Ultratriathlon.
Der Autor, in beiden dieser Welten zuhause, schlägt ausgehend von seiner persönlichen Leidenschaft für Ausdauersport Brücken in die Start-up-Forschung, insbesondere hin zu Nebenerwerbsgründungen. Mit Prof. Dr. Frank-Martin Belz und Prof. Dr. Michael Friebe steuern zwei Ironman- bzw. Leistungssport-begeisterte BWL-Professoren jeweils ein Vorwort hinzu.

Das Buch ist vieles nicht: Es ist kein klassisches Lehrbuch über Unternehmensgründung und -entwicklung, auch wenn es den Anspruch hat, der Leserin die Grundzüge näherzubringen. Es ist auch vorrangig kein autobiographischer Wettkampfbericht, auch wenn Erlebnisse aus einer persönlichen Perspektive beschrieben werden. Es soll auch kein Motivationsratgeber sein, der die Leserinnen zur Tat schreiten lassen soll, auch wenn das als Konsequenz nicht unerwünscht ist.
Das Buch soll ein Brückenschlag sein. Ein Fachbuch, welches unterhält, weil es eine eindrückliche persönliche Geschichte mitsamt unvermeidlicher Anekdoten erzählt. Ein Buch, welches betriebswirtschaftliche Sachverhalte praxisnah vermittelt. Und ein Buch, welches motiviert, eben dieses nach der letzten Seite auf den Tisch zu legen und ins Tun zu kommen. Wie bei Peter Lustig, der Löwenzahn immer mit der Aufforderung zum Ausschalten beendete.

Mit diesem Blickwinkel ist das Buch geschrieben worden: Was kann ich aus den Erfahrungen im Ultra-Triathlon für den Aufbau eines Start-ups lernen? Und was können bisherige Gründererfahrungen dazu beitragen? Es geht somit um Motivation, Mindset, Mut und Management.
Dabei ist es bewusst nicht zu wissenschaftlich geschrieben, damit die Leserin sich nicht auf diese Weise direkt an die Phasen der Langeweile und Eintönigkeiten bei einem Ultra-Triathlon erinnert fühlt.

Zum Autor:
Thomas de Nocker (*1982) ist Gründer und Unternehmer sowie Professor für BWL. 2023 errang er bei der Weltmeisterschaft im Ultra-Triathlon auf der dreifachen Ironman-Distanz dank einer Kiste Cola und Ballermann-Hits in Dauerschleife nach 42 Stunden den 5. Platz.
