Weit von jenen anämischen Gebilden entfernt, die in der althergebrachten Forschung unter dem Namen 'Organisationsstruktur' ihr schattenhaftes Dasein fristen und von oben bis unten vermessen werden, sind Organisationen in Wirklichkeit Arenen heftiger Kämpfe, heimlicher Mauscheleien und gefährlicher Spiele mit wechselnden Spielern, Strategien, Regeln und Fronten" (Küpper / Ortmann 1992, S.7). In Beratungsprozessen tobt auch das Leben. Es gibt jedoch nur wenige, die wissen, was Organisationsberater wirklich tun, wenn sie ein Unternehmen beraten. Der Beratungsprozess, verstanden als Interaktionsprozess zwischen Beratern und Klienten und damit entstehende Dynamiken, werden bis heute als Black Box bezeichnet (vgl. Fitsch 2008, S. 165). Doch was machen Berater, wenn sie beraten? Warum wurden die Berater vom Klienten überhaupt beauftragt? Wie interagieren Klienten und Berater? Und warum kommt es in Beratungsprozessen zu bestimmten Handlungen? Um Beratung verstehen zu können, ist es wichtig die Handlungen und Interaktionen der Berater und Klienten näher zu betrachten. Leider sind bisherige Beiträge über Beratungsinteraktionen in der Beratungsforschung sehr rar. Es fällt auf, dass bisher hauptsächlich quantitative Studien erscheinen, die sich entweder mit dem Beratungsmarkt und dessen Entwicklung beschäftigen (vgl. z.B. Ernst / Kieser 2002; Kolbeck 2001) oder auch Erklärungen für den gro en Wachstum der Beraterbranche liefern (vgl. z.B. Armbrüster / Kieser 2001; Faust 2000). Ein Mangel besteht dagegen auf qualitativer Ebene. Es gibt kaum detaillierte qualitative Studien zum Thema Beratungshandeln.
