Eliot, T. S.: - Thomas Stearne Eliot (1988-1965) was born in St. Louis. Missouri, U.S. A descendant of the old New England family, he graduated in Philosophy at the Sorbonne, Harvard and Merton College, Oxford. He settled in England where he taught at a junior school for boys near London, and then worked for Lloyd's Bank as a clerk, before he took up the assignment of editor for Faber & Faber. Later he became a director of this publishing firm.While teaching, Eliot completed his dissertation "Knowledge and Experience in the Philosophy of F.H. Bradley."
