Chapter 2... Hadley has a flashback to that time when he took Coop four-wheeling in his MR2. In the history of Shepherd College, there had never been a car expelled off campus until Hadley and his red MR2. A red t-topped Toyota MR2 is going down a dirt road with mud puddles on it. Hadley is driving. Coop is in the passenger's side seat. Coop grew up in Baltimore, Maryland in the tough part of town. He is a large man of color and is always well- dressed. He has been Hadley's best friend for many years. They both played college football together. Coop always knows he will have one of those nights, any time he goes on a ride with Hadley. Coop always gives credit to Hadley for teaching him how to drive a clutch. The MR2 is approaching a large mud hole. Coop's screaming voice can be heard over Hadley's yelling voice. Hadley is of course yelling in excitement, and Coop out of fear for his life. The car enters the mud hole and gets stuck right smack in the middle of it. Coop and Hadley always go for a run through the local farmer's property. The farmer said that next time, he will shoot them both! Hadley gets out of his car and falls into the mud. He is on his hands and knees, and pushes the back of the car. Coop gets himself over to the driver's side of the car. He looks out the window to see the car sunk down to the frame. "Another fine mess you got me into! For Christ's sake, man, get up and push this car like you never pushed before!" Hadley stands and is knee-deep in mud and water. He lets out a grunt and begins to push the car. Coop is shocked as Hadley starts to move the car without Coop pushing on the accelerator. "You better never come by my crib dressed like some KKK motherfucker again! Man, what is your problem?"
