Die Einfiihrung der elektronischen Datenverarbeitung hat in allen sachprodu- zierenden und allen dienstleistenden Prozessen tiefgreifende Vedinderungen bewirkt. Diese Entwicklung hat zwar im Verkehr relativ spat und zunachst vor allem bei den offentlichen Verkehrsmitteln eingesetzt, ihre Vorteile zeiehnen sich jedoch auch hier inzwischen deutlich abo Insbesondere hat das Durchden- ken der Einsatzmoglichkeiten fiir die elektronische Datenverarbeitung dazu gefiihrt, daB die Verkehrs- und Transportmittel in zunehmendem MaBe als prozeBgeregelte Gesamtsysteme begriffen werden. Die ordnende und struk- turierende Beschaftigung mit dem Gesamtsystem Verkehr hat, insbesondere unter dem Gesichtspunkt der elektronischen Steuerungs-und Regelungsmog- lichkeiten der Systeme, auch dazu geflihrt, daB die praktizierte Sieherungsme- thodik des Verkehrs, insbesondere die des offentlichen Verkehrs, einer systematischen Analyse mit dem Ziel der Fortschreibung in die Technologie- generation der Elektronik unterzogen werden muBte. Aus zahlreiehen For- schungsarbeiten und den ersten Anwendungen der hierbei erzielten Ergeb- nisse in der Praxis ist inzwischen ein Erfahrungsschatz herangereift, der mit dem vorliegenden Werk als Stand der Technik auf dein Gebiet der Verkehrs- sieherung veroffentlicht werden kann. Auch dieses Werk beschiiftigt sieh vorwiegend mit den Methoden zur Siche- rung des offentlichen Verkehrs, weil sich dessen ProzeBlogik derzeit noch am ehesten technisch objektivierend nachbilden laBt. Ehe sieh im Individualver- kehr technisch organisierte ProzeBregelungen zur Realisierung anbieten, ist sieher noch eine erhebliche Steigerung der Leistungsfahigkeit in der elektroni- schen Datenverarbeitung erforderlich. Immerhin wiirden sieh die in diesem Werk erarbeiteten Grundsatze der Verkehrssieherung auch auf einen techni- sierten oder automatisierten Individualverkehr libertragen lassen; sie konnten sogar heute schon wichtige Entwicklungslinien fiir ein derartiges Konzept aufzeigen.
