Verteilte Systeme bilden das R�ckgrat vieler industrieller Anwendungen. Mit der Integration von Mobilfunknetzen und mobilen Endger�ten erfahren sie in j�ngerer Zeit eine intensive Weiterentwicklung. Einsatzfelder wie etwa die B�roautomatisierung, die Fertigungssteuerung oder das WWW werden erweitert und durch neue erg�nzt. Das vorliegende Buch stellt die Grundlagen Verteilter Systeme aus der Sicht der Rechnernetze und der verteilten Verarbeitung dar. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf einer kompakten Darstellung der grundlegenden Konzepte und Technologien. Die Grundprinzipien werden dabei stets auch durch die Diskussion aktueller Entwicklungen, etwa im Bereich der Service-orientierten Architekturen, abgerundet. Die Darstellung erfolgt anhand eines durchg�ngig verwendeten Einsatzfeldes, die Beispiele orientieren sich an g�ngigen Standards und Technologien wie Java, EJB oder Web Services. Sowohl Studierenden als auch Praktikern soll auf diesem Weg Basiswissen mit engem Bezug zur konkreten Anwendung vermittelt werden. Die Neuauflage wurde durchgehend aktualisiert und erweitert, v.a. im Bereich dienstorienterter Architekturen, AJAX und Cloud Computing. In der zweiten Auflage wurden mehr �bungsaufgaben mit L�sungen aufgenommen.

Thomas Springer studierte Informatik an der Technischen Universität Dresden. Im Anschluss an das Studium war er von 1998 bis 2001 Stipendiat des Graduiertenkollegs I der Fakultät Informatik an der Technischen Universität Dresden mit dem Thema "Werkzeuge zum effektiven Einsatz paralleler und verteilter Rechnersysteme". Seit November 2001 ist er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl Rechnernetze von Prof. Schill. Die Schwerpunkte seiner Forschungsarbeiten sind Mobile und Ubiquitous Computing sowie Middleware. Im Rahmen seiner Dissertation beschäftigt er sich mit innovativen Verfahren zur Adaption verteilter Anwendungen im Bereich Mobile und Ubiquitous Computing. Prof. Dr. Alexander Schill ist Professor für Rechnernetze und Dekan der Fakultät Informatik an der Technischen Universität Dresden. Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind verteilte Systeme und Middleware, Hochleistungsnetze und Multimedia sowie moderne Teledienste wie z.B. Teleteaching und Teleworking. Seine Forschungsprojekte werden in enger Kooperation mit der Industrie durchgeführt. Zwischen der Promotion und der Habilitation an der Universität Karlsruhe arbeitete er am IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, New York. Prof. Schill ist Autor bzw. Koautor zahlreicher Publikationen und Fachbücher im Bereich der Rechnernetze.
