In masura in care memoriile de odinioara constituiau un gen proxim celui epistolar, ele vehiculau, ca si scrisorile acelei epoci, o cantitate mare de subiectivitate. Autorul vede insa genul memorialistic prin prisma modernitatii: demersul sau este axat pe fapte, oameni si locuri, abundent ilustrat si chiar, pe alocuri, vehiculeaza date tehnice. Este mai mult blogul unei vieti de sondor, construit din selfiuri juxtapuse, ceea ce accentueaza sentimentul de autenticitate, de fapt trait pe care-l resimte cititorul, inca de la primele pagini.
