Il a été rédigé pour assurer l'auteur de la pertinence de ses observations portant sur l'évolution des hommes et des choses à Vilparis, un pays où il a séjourné durant de longues années. En effet, la lecture assidue du roman a partagé pendant plusieurs mois la solitude de l'auteur, ou mieux, transformé sa solitude en un plaisir rare et égoïste tant il pénétrait son âme et flattait son esprit. Le plaisir de l'auteur consistait à voir les morceaux qu'il a ramassés et cousus, à prix de patientes recherches, former un tableau exhaustif qui expose le tissu social Vilparisien, tissu délabré prêt à céder sous le poids des absurdités. Vilparis, un pays où le grand nombre est en train de succomber sous la vigilance inflexible de la misère et de l'ignorance; ce, sous le regard indifférent des grands pouvoirs de l'Etat. Au fil des mois, le sens profond de cette définition de Vilparis finira par tourmenter l'auteur de son erreur d'avoir gardé le roman dans sa chambre pour alimenter la jouissance de son plaisir narcissique. Car la définition de Vilparis n'est pas une dénonciation branlante ou lâche, mais un passage qui montre la plaie au lecteur et la lui fait toucher du doigt. L auteur découvre la certitude que son roman n'est pas autre chose qu'une lampe allumée; il reconnait en même temps qu'il ne peut pas se tromper. Car il n'est pas sans savoir qu'allumer une lampe implique instinctivement l'intention de l'exposer, de la mettre sur le chandelier afin qu'elle éclaire tous ceux qui sont dans la maison. Alors, sous l'empire de sa conscience retrouvée, il s'empresse de se condamner lui-même en qualifiant de complaisance sadique son abandon au plaisir du narcissisme. Il va sans dire que son égarement survint comme un contretemps utile pour le conduire aux portes de la vérité, pareil au châtiment de Jonas. En effet, le voici aujourd'hui, conscient du fait que son roman, Vilparis, diffuse une trop brillante lumière pour qu' il eût servi de lampe de chevet, mais qu' il doit être exposé a travers les rues de Vilparis, pareil à la lanterne de Diogène à travers les rues d Athènes. Car quelle différence existe t'il entre Vilparis d'aujourd'hui et Athènes du temps de Diogène?
