About The Author

Eberhard Breitmaier fuhrte seine Promotion bei Ernst Bayer an der Universitat in Tubingen durch. Nach einem Postdoc-Aufenthalt und einer Position als Assistant Professor an der University of Houston, Texas, zog es ihn wieder zuruck an die Universitat in Tubingen, wo er sich 1971 habilitierte. Von 1975 bis 2004 war er Professor fur organische Chemie und instrumentelle Analytik an der Universitat in Bonn. Seine Forschung konzentrierte sich auf die 3-Alkoxyacroleine als Synthesereagenzien, porphyrinoide Annulene und Naturstoffe. Wahrend seiner Tatigkeit als Hochschullehrer hat er zahlreiche Originalarbeiten veroffentlicht und ist Autor mehrerer bekannter Lehrbucher auf den Gebieten der NMR-Spektroskopie, organischen Chemie und Naturstoffchemie.
