Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Individuum, Gruppe, Gesellschaft, Note: 1,7, Hochschule Hannover, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der Ihnen vorliegenden Hausarbeit, behandele ich das Thema der Settlement- Bewegung. Dieses Thema finde ich nicht nur interessant, sondern auch für die heutige Sozialarbeit noch durchaus relevant. Es kann gesagt werden, dass zwei wegweisende Modelle für die Settlement- Bewegung stehen. Das ist zum einen Toynbee Hall in England, gegründet von dem Gemeindepfarrer Samuel Barnett und seiner Ehefrau Henrietta. Als nächstes nenne ich das Hull House in Chicago, welches von Jane Addams ins Leben gerufen wurde. In meiner Hausarbeit betrachte ich das Hull House von Jane Addams genauer. Natürlich kann Toynbee Hall nicht au er Betracht gelassen werden, da dieses Settlement der Vorreiter war. Das Hull House ist also eine veränderte Form von Toynbee Hall. Jedoch sehe ich das Hull House als grö eren Wegbereiter der Gemeinwesenarbeit, da es im Gegensatz zu Toynbee Hall den Schwerpunkt der Vorgehensweise in der Veränderung der strukturellen Rahmenbedingungen von Lebensbedingungen armer Menschen legt. Meine genaue Themenbezeichnung lautet: "Von der Settlement- Bewegung zur heutigen Gemeinwesenarbeit". Ich finde, dass schon dieser Titel die Relevanz des Themas deutlich macht. Die Settlement- Bewegung steht im direkten Zusammenhang zu der heutigen Gemeinwesenarbeit. Dies deutet darauf hin, dass die Settlement- Bewegung, welche vor über 100 Jahren begründet wurde, den Grundstein der Gemeinwesenarbeit darstellt. Das Thema hat mein Interesse geweckt, da ich es sehr spannend fand, wie in der damaligen Zeit und zu den damalig herrschenden Bedingungen, solche "Institutionen" ins Leben gerufen wurden und was die Begründer damit erreichen wollten.
