Rey, 2009, S.33), spielt die Kooperation bzw. Kollaboration verschiedener Lernender zur gemeinsamen Konstruktion von Wissen eine entscheidende Rolle. In authentischen Lernsituationen soll selbstreguliert Wissen konstruiert werden, wobei dieser Prozess besonders durch Gruppen-arbeiten unterstützt werden kann. Während Gruppenarbeiten in der klassischen Schuldidaktik mittlerweile etabliert und in vielfältiger Weise methodisch ausdifferenziert sind, sind sie im E-Learning entsprechend neuer und nach wie vor umstrittener. So betonen Stahl, Koschmann und Suthers (2006, S.2) die Heraus-forderung, die Aspekte "Computerunterstützung" und "kollaboratives Lernen" miteinander so zu verbinden, dass ein effizientes Lernen ermöglicht wird. Um jedoch auch im Bereich des E-Learning dem konstruktivistischen Ansatz folgen zu können, ist es unerlässlich, Einsatzmöglichkeiten und Probleme virtueller Gruppenarbeiten zu beleuchten und geeignete Rahmenbedingungen zu eruieren. Die Bezugsgrö e in dieser Arbeit wird immer sowohl das kollaborative Lernen in klassischen Lernumgebungen als auch das individuelle Lernen in virtuellen Lernumgebungen sein. Vor diesem Hintergrund muss, obwohl das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist, die Vor- und Nachteile von kollaborativem Lernen in virtuellen Lernumgebungen zu beleuchten, neben Ausführungen zu Merkmalen des kollaborativen Lernens ein besonderer Schwerpunkt auf grundsätzliche Eigenschaften der computervermittelten Kommunikation gelegt werden, denn nur in diesem Punkt unterscheidet sich die kollaborative Grup-penarbeit in virtuellen Lernumgebungen von jener in klassischen Lernumgebungen und vom i
