Sie arbeitet detailliert heraus, wie und wodurch Oppositionsparteien benachteiligt werden. [...] Am 11.9.1994 waren zum zweiten Mal seit der Wende Landtagswahlen in Brandenburg und Sachsen. In Sachsen gewann die CDU mit über 58 Prozent die absolute Mehrheit in Brandenburg mit über 54 Prozent die SPD. Auch in den Medien spiegelt sich die politische Situation wieder. Aus dem roten Brandenburg und dem schwarzen Sachsen berichten zwei politisch unterschiedlich gefärbte öffentlich-rechtliche Rundfunkanstalten. Ihre regionale Berichterstattung im politisch so bedeutenden Medium Fernsehen soll diese Arbeit vergleichen. MDR - Sachsen - Spiegel und ORB - Brandenburg - Journal - die Momentaufnahme der medialen Realität - eine Wahlperiode nach der Einheit. Im Abschnitt 3 wird die zentrale Bedeutung der Medien für die Legitimation des Staates dargestellt. Politische Kommunikation wird verstanden als Grundlage der Demokratie. Logische Konsequenz daraus ist, da Politiker versuchen, Einflu auf die Programmgestaltung zu nehmen. Eine zentrale Stellung im Mediensystem hat dabei das politisch besonders einflu reiche Medium Fernsehen, dessen Spezifik im Abschnitt 4 näher ausgeführt wird. Es bietet, bedingt durch den Zwang zur Visualisierung, den Politikern auch diverse Ansatzpunkte, die ihren Instrumentalisierungsabsichten entgegen kommen. Erörtert werden hier auch Hauptaspekte der Politikdarstellung im Fernsehen und einige Beispiel-Studien zur Problematik. Der nächste und 5. Abschnitt beschäftigt sich mit der Regionalisierung, auch und vor allem im öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehen.
