War Against the Soul is written as a self-help book aimed at helping the Christian man to discover how best to handle the lure of pornography. The solutions are spiritually based but there is an incorporation of secular methods to help condition the person that is struggling with sexual immorality so that they can become stronger. The key to the solution to this problem is God and the book illustrates the need for men that are having difficulty withstanding the temptation.The author believes that this like so many other things in this world can be the source of an addition. The reader can expect that they will need to do a great deal of introspection. The root of these problems can be psychological or physiological. The book deals with in a effects of the spiritual battles that confront a large number of men. It is an opinion piece that attempts to help the reader discover how best to deal with these challenges. The reader is encouraged not to take this journey alone yet there is no companion book to assist an accountability partner. There is instead a section at the end of each chapter that is written for a person acting as a spiritual mentor in this process. The author believes that by including the material that an accountability partner will use enable the person that is confronting their problems there are no secrets and that they are not in a subordinate or inferior position because they are struggling. They are being asked to share intimate information about themselves and as a result should be that they are shown a transparent methodology that is being used to assist them.The source for most of the information that is contained within the book is the Holy Bible as well as the life experiences of the author who struggled with the challenges of sexual temptation. The contention of the book is that temptation will always be with us and the need to control our reaction to the temptation is the key to success. To do this we need God and we need to understand ourselves. The book is designed to be used for as long as the person needs it. That could be a month, a year or the rest of their lives.
