This book shares the history of the Grandville High School RoboDawgs. It uses stories from the team's 27 year history to help readers understand the growth of the RoboDawg program from its start with one FIRST Robotics team to become one of the most successful competitive robotics teams in the world. Starting with Lego League and VEX IQ, the Grandville robotics program introduces kids to VEX Robotics, Robot Combat, Aerial Drone Racing, and Underwater Rovers.

We hope this book will help compel community, school, and business leaders to seek out and support their area's competitive robotics programs. In telling the RoboDawgs story, we want to share stories from our years of involvement that will encourage and invigorate our fellow coaches, volunteers, and teachers around the country as they work to further develop their own programs. Most of all, we want this story to inspire students and adult leaders in those communities that still don't have competitive robotics programs to take the leap and get them going.

Evele, Mike: - Michael Evele has been a physics teacher for 36 years and counting. He was a Science Olympiad coach for 21 years (including student teaching). In 1998, he along with Natalie Lowell and Spencer Dolloff founded the RoboDawgs. Though physics teaching is his passion, as with most teachers, it's really all about the students. Mike is grateful for an amazing career getting to know and love so many incredible students.

Hepfer, Doug: - Doug Hepfer was a successful Partner at one of the world's largest consulting firms until his kids got involved with competitve robotics. Or, more accurately, his and his wife Rosemary volunteered t coach his son's elementary Lego League team. That one team turned into two, then four, and then more than 20 Lego League teams in Grandville, Michigan. Doug had been a youth group leader, a mission trip organizer, and a scoutmaster. He found he had a passion for the way competitive robotics altered the trajectories of the kids that participated.

Vinoski, Jim: - Manufacturing writer, speaker, and host at the Manufacturing Talks web show and podcast. Followed by everyone who's cool.
