In Gefolge der englisch sprachigen Länder, vorallem der USA, wo der Geschlechter- frage im Gesundheitsbereich schon lange eine gro e Bedeutung zugemessen wird, entwickelte sich nun auch in Deutschland ausgehend von der Frauenforschung ein spezifisches Interesse an diesem Thema. Mit der Herausgabe dieses Bandes und der Neuauflage wollen wir der geschlechtsspezifischen Perspektive von Gesundheits- und Krankheitsproblemen Rechnung tragen. Charakteristisch scheint dabei, da sich diesem Thema vor allem Autorinnen annehmen, die im sozialwissenschaftlichen Sektor tätig sind, meist Psychologinnen und Soziologinnen. Männer werden zwar inzwischen mehr beforscht, aber thematisch ist dies noch gebunden an Themen der Väterlichkeit, der Gewalt oder der Sexualität. Bedenkt man dann noch, da einige Bücher aus dem Englischen übersetzt und zudem oftmals Frauen die Herausgeberin- nen oder Autorinnen sind, so engt sich der Bereich, in dem Männer über sich als Mann forschen und schreiben ein. Entsprechend der historischen Entwicklung des Forschungsthemas ist es so nicht verwunderlich - wohl aber bedauerlich - da le- diglich in dem Beitrag von Hollstein die spezifische Rolle des Mannes und der da- mit verbundenen gesundheitlichen Gegebenheiten angesprochen wird. Die Auseinandersetzung mit der Geschlechterperspektive bezüglich Gesundheit und Krankheit kann bisher unter folgenden Aspekten zusammengefa t werden: Den Ausgangspunkt bildete der mit der Untersuchung von Broverrnann geprägte Begriff des Doppelstandards psychischer Gesundheit für Frauen und Männer, wobei sie sich auf die Fremdattribuierung der im Gesundheitsbereich Tätigen bezog.
