Hierzu werden zunächst Funktionen und grundlegende Merkmale von Lerntagebüchern erklärt, um aufzuzeigen, wie sich die Rolle der Schülerinnen und Schüler von einem bewerteten, hin zu einem selbst-bewertenden Subjekt ändert. Da es nicht nur eine Möglichkeit gibt, ein Lerntagebuch anzulegen, werden im nächsten Schritt die verschiedenen Inhalte und Formen betrachtet. Anschlie end daran wird das Nutzen von Lerntagebüchern sowohl für Schüler, als auch für die damit arbeitenden Lehrer thematisiert. Im nachfolgenden Punkt wird erklärt, welche Verbindungen es zwischen einem Lerntagebuch und dem Prozess des selbstgesteuerten Lernens gibt. Um auch einen kritischen Blick auf die Lerntagebücher zu werfen, werden Chancen und Herausforderungen näher thematisiert. Anschlie end wird ein kurzer Abriss über das Konzept der individuellen Förderung im Allgemeinen gemacht, um im Schluss bessere und stichhaltigere Rückschlüsse und ein Fazit ziehen zu können. Auf Grundlage dessen Ergebnisse wird abschlie end versucht die Frage zu beantworten, welchen Beitrag Lerntagebücher im Kontext individueller Förderung leisten können.
