Auslands- und Inlandsarbeit sind daher eng aufeinander bezogen. Unser langjähriges Motto "Wer sich im Süden engagiert, darf im Norden nicht schweigen", drückt diesen Zusammenhang aus. Mitgliederversammlung 2012 des Weltfriedensdiensts e.V. Dieses Buch erzählt die Geschichte der hartnäckig verfolgten Idee, Frieden im Weltma stab zu denken, aber dafür von unten her zu arbeiten - gemeinsam mit benachteiligten Menschen in den Krisengebieten der Welt, aber auch bei uns in Deutschland. Am Anfang des Weltfriedensdiensts stand die Idee, dass zu dem in beiden Deutschlands gerade (1956) erst wieder eingeführten Wehrdienst die Alternative eines Friedensdienstes geschaffen werden müsste: "Friedensdienst statt Kriegsdienst!" lautete dafür die Parole. Was unter Frieden zu verstehen ist, auf welche Weise und in welcher Form der Frieden in der Welt mit den eigenen beschränkten Mitteln am besten befördert werden kann, war immer neu Gegenstand von Diskussionen aus unterschiedlichem Anlass. Für die Arbeitsweise des Weltfriedensdiensts bedeutete dies eine charakteristische Dialektik von praxisbezogener Konzeptionsentwicklung einerseits und konzeptionsorientierter Praxis andererseits. Erzählt wird die Geschichte des Weltfriedensdiensts daher als Geschichte der leitenden Ideen einer bestimmten Projektpolitik in ihrem zeitgeschichtlichen Kontext sowie der entsprechenden Projektaktivitäten und der Reflexion der gemachten Erfahrungen als Grundlage einer veränderten Projektpolitik im Sinne von "lessons learnt" Vision - Erfahrungen - Reflexion - veränderte Vision. Eine angefügte ausführliche Zeittafel erlaubt einen detaillierten Blick auf die tatsächliche Chronik der Ereignisse.

Ulrich Luig, geb. 1945 in Berlin. Studium der evangelischen Theologie und Promotion in Berlin. Seit 1968 ist er in verschiedenen Funktionen mit dem Weltfriedensdienst verbunden. Seit 2008 im Ruhestand, lebt in Berlin.
