But the independent Casey Review, published five months later, was unambiguous: "We were close to fatalities."

Wembley on the Edge is the full story of that day - told by a journalist who was there.

Drawing on the 129-page Casey Review and his own eyewitness account, sports journalist Karol Borawski reconstructs the events of 11 July 2021 hour by hour: the festive morning crowd that turned ugly, the institutional failures that left the stadium unprepared, the penalties, and the racist abuse that followed England's defeat.
