About The Author

McCarthy, Chris: - Chris McCarthy is an astronomer working at San Francisco State University. He has taught college astronomy for over 15 years. His field of research is extra-solar planets (exoplanets), which he began to study in the 1990s, before the first ones were found. Together with colleagues, he has discovered over 25 planets, three brown dwarfs, and three planet-forming disks around other stars. He earned a bachelor's degree at the University of California, Berkeley, a master's degree from San Francisco State University, and a doctorate from University of California, Los Angeles.
