The definitive guide to the birdwatching sites of Devon and Cornwall.

Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are on any birdwatcher's destination list, renowned for rare vagrants, wintering Avocets, seabirds and the UK's only Cirl Buntings. A wealth of habitats, from wide open beaches and towering sea cliffs to Atlantic woodlands and exposed tors, ensures much more besides, with a wide variety of species at any time of year.

Now in its sixth edition, Where to Watch Birds in Devon and Cornwall remains an invaluable and most trusted site guide for birdwatching in the region. This new edition features more than 80 updated sites and maps, and a fully revised and expanded text, including information on habitats, access, when to visit, and key species to see at each site during different seasons. This is an essential guide for all birdwatchers living in or visiting the land of cream teas.

McMahon, Sara: - Sara McMahon started birding aged eight in the Midlands, armed with her plastic binoculars and the Observer Book of British Birds. She has contributed to many field reports, research papers and magazines, including writing Bird Watching magazine's monthly Cornwall round-up for over 20 years, and is the co-author of Best Birdwatching Sites in Cornwall and Scilly. Now based in Plympton, Devon, Sara is an active birder, particularly enjoying rarities, patch birding, and seawatching along the Devon and Cornwall coasts.

Rylands, Kevin: - Kevin Rylands is a birder and naturalist. His passion for birds was sparked in the south-east but Devon has been his adopted county, and Dawlish Warren his local patch, since 1991. He has worked for the RSPB for over 25 years, supporting and encouraging farmers to boost the conservation of Chough, Cirl Bunting and Stone-curlew in particular. He has also maintained the Dawlish Warren Recording Group website since 2004 and was Devon Bird Recorder for six years.
