They say that writers should write their passion. Other than my sweet wife, I have fostered four passions in life: (in alphabetical order so as to not show favorites) art, creative writing, Bible preaching and teaching, and personal soul-winning. What with formal education in each obsession and over 35 years of catering to their whims, we developed a sort of love hate, abusive relationship with myself being the enabler. Now don't get me wrong, these fine-tuned areas of expertise have blossomed beauteous in our golden years, it's just that other areas in my life have suffered some loss on the count of their overly zealous ways. It's the old blessing curse thing, not unlike the beautiful kudzu vines which over-grow some of the landscapes around here in Tennessee. They're indeed lovely to behold but truth be told their green glamor is quietly choking the very life out of everything else on the hillside. But then such is the case in any ministry, there's a price to be paid. Something of the flesh must die in order for the Spirit to have it's way, vise versa also. Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. (John 12:24) It was predestination, that's all in the world it was. Some providentially predetermined eventuality that was bound to happen sooner or later, in my own current line of reality anyway. I must write a book, not just any book; an artistically illustrated devotional book teaching the plan of salvation and soul-winning. I ask you, who else in the world could do or ever has done such a thing, or who ever would do it again? Nobody, exactly my point.
