Prof. Dr. Burkhard Kümmerer ist seit 2002 Universitätsprofessor für Mathematik am Fachbereich Mathematik der Technischen Universität Darmstadt. Seine Arbeitsgebiete sind Mathematische Physik und Didaktik der Mathematik für gymnasiale Lehramtsausbildung. Für seine Lehre erhielt er mehrere Preise: 1993: Landeslehrpreis des Landes Baden-Württemberg, 2000: Preis "Dozent des Jahres" für die beste Lehre der Fakultät für Physik, Universität Stuttgart, 2012: Athene-Preis Für Gute Lehre, Fachbereichspreis Mathematik.
