Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Nachkriegszeit, Kalter Krieg, Note: gut, Universität Potsdam (Neuere Geschichte), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Einleitung Betrachtet man die Jüdische Geschichte im Nachkriegsdeutschland, so kommt man nicht umhin, sich mit der Thematik der Wiedergutmachungsgesetzgebung der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zu beschäftigen. Allerdings muss unterschieden werden zwischen der Gesetzgebung, welche die Regelungen innerhalb Deutschlands betrafen und dem Abkommen über Entschädigungsleistungen zwischen Deutschland und Israel, wobei letzteres in dieser Arbeit von grö erer Bedeutung sein wird. Die Aufnahme der diplomatischen Beziehungen zwischen Israel und Deutschland wurde durch die Wiedergutmachung geprägt. Genauer gesagt war sie der Auslöser dafür, dass sich zwischen den beiden Staaten überhaupt ein Dialog entwickeln konnte. Die Verhandlungen zwischen deutschen und israelischen Politikern und die Diskussion auf innenpolitischer Ebene haben auch dazu beigetragen, dass die Gräueltaten des Nationalsozialistischen Systems nicht so leicht aus dem kollektiven Gedächtnis verbannt werden konnten, aber es wäre übertrieben zu sagen, dass die Wiedergutmachungsverhandlungen zu einer ernsthaften Auseinandersetzung in gro en Teilen der deutschen Bevölkerung mit der eigenen Vergangenheit geführt hätten. In dieser Arbeit sollen die unterschiedlichen Aspekte der Problematik der Wiedergutmachung dargestellt werden, das hei t, diese aus deutscher und israelischer Sicht zu beleuchten, aber auch die Reaktionen der jüdischen Bevölkerung in Deutschland sollen hierbei eine Rolle spielen. Die Motivationen der aktiv Beteiligten auf deutscher und israelischer Seite, die Diskussionen um die Wiedergutmachung voranzutreiben oder zu boykottieren soll ebenfalls als ein zentraler Aspekt behandelt werden.
